Coming to America

This website will be an on going work, changing as we go along adding new bits and pieces to the Kliner Havla history.  My son John (Doc) Kliner and I started this many years ago, and I sort of set it aside for awhile. Recent hits on our old web site and finding new cousins has fanned the flame for me to get going, before I am history.  You can reach John at dockliner@yahoo.com and me at  jim@popij.com . So if you have anything to add please let us know.  You can also use the contact form below if you would just like to check in and leave a comment.love, Jim

Snapshot of Ignac and Anna Kliner History

History records the deeds of men and women.  Everyone is making history of some kind.  Many of the noblest deeds of men and women have never been recorded because there was no compiler of those deeds.

In this particular instance, only fragments are pieced together to provide a brief record of the background of some of the pioneers of Manitowoc County; Manitowoc, Wisconsin.  This history was started by my  Great Aunt: Libby Kliner Anderson, and was picked up and carried on by my cousin Alfred T. Fricke.  Having found this work in a move from Orlando, Florida to Dudley, Georgia: I James R. Kliner, along with anyone who would like to share, will try and bring this piece of our history up to date.

Ignac Kliner - Written by Libbie Kliner Anderson in 1977.

Dad's forefathers came from Scotland during the 30 year war in the year 1500.

Some migrated to Bohemia - don't know just when nor do I know Dad's Father and Mother first names.  They were the parents of 5 sons: John, Ignac, James, Frank and Jacob.  Also, a daughter, Katherine.  John and Katherine came to the U.S.A. in the 1860's (before Dad and Mother came to the U.S.A), Don't know the exact year.  John and Katherine both married in Cleveland, Ohio.  John had two sons: Ed and Joseph that I know of.  I don't if there were more children.  Joseph Married, also, had children but don't know how many or where they are or anything about them.

Alfred T. Fricke transcribe and typed Aunt Libby's hand written notes and added what he had researched to the history.  He and Aunt Libby visited some of the Hlava relatives in Ravenna, Nebraska.   This is where he got some of the the family pictures.
